As a matter of fact Ted Wong footwork is in my opinnion even more, exlplosive, smooth. I can assure you that sifu Ted Wong footwork is something very very OUTSTANDING. I witnessed and experienced it on my own eyes and all I can say that I have never ever seen no one to move so remarkable and marvelous. This is also why I feel Ted Wong JKD as "that's it" becouse of importance of footwork.
About the on guard description, If this is all you have been thought or in your mind most important things in on guard than I must say that you haven't been thought about a lot very important details.
Hmm... In my opinnion Stefan kneeing the heavybag is far from Muay Thai way of kicking- one of the thing is that he isn't telegraphing the movement by drawing back firstly the lead leg
Tackett is student of Dan Inosanto so....his approach to JKD is more like his teacher as he said by himslef that most that he knows about JKD comes from Dan Inosanto. Although Bob Bremer influenced his JKD....
Stefan had opportunity to train with Bremer, as he trained with all of Bruce Lee's students he also trained with Tackett as well. All I can say is that that I quess I know why despite all of that he stayed with Ted Wong teachings
I am very fortunate to learn Ted Wong JKD through Stefan as he knows and can show and tell the differences between the approaches.
And yes footwork of Ted Wong differs very much from the footwork that is thought by Inosanto. Details ARE important!!!!!!!!!
