I am not quite sure if my "braintumour story" will help in any way. but i will give it a try.
when i said michail is in the same situation as me I mean that he stands alone against a "bigger" opponet. the Concepts approach is well established in most peoples oppinion on what is JKD, this is what i mean with "bigger opponent"
facing a "big opponent" there is no room to be nice, understanding bla, bla, bla. you simply have to pu 100% into your beliefs. this is what he is doing, I am quite sure that when things setlle down, when people are starting to establish o more complete, 50/50, point of view on JKD his tone wil be different. it wil be different because there is no risk of him saiyng something positive about Concepts will be misinterpreated. i am quite sure if michail wouls start to back down down now you all would start saying
-well you see, he doesn´t have anything to comment anymore, bla, bla, bla.
Now to my Braintumor. when i was diagnosted with Braintumour i decided right away, actually it only took me a couple of seconds to make a decision. the decision was
- You jumped in the wrong head you mother f....r, you will regret that you decided to grow in my head, you are as good as dead
I struggled through radiation therapy, with nothing but seeing the tumour as the mortal enemy, there was no room to feel sorry for the tumor for all the radiation it received. well, the radiation went good, but there was a area little as my littlefinger nail still active. One year of chemotherapy :) i went on the chemo therapy with the same attitude. I believed in my own ability to survive, i believed in my experience from meeting opponents/challenges before. I gave it 100%. The mother f---r was going to loose this battle.
After about 8 months i was starting to fell quite comfortable with the treatment, all that negative energy, that single minded sicknes to survive and beat the braintumour was no longer needed. i strted to going to the treatment like I was stepping into a sparring session ith a friend. it was a friendly measure of strength and ability to survive. I gave it my all, the tumour gave it its all. I was feeling a respect for my braintumor. Still my soul purpose was to win the fight with him, but I no lionger felt the need to proove myself to my braintumour. The brain tumour also had prooven itselt to me.
To survive the radiation therapy showed that the tumour was as trong thing, just as me. No we were in another struggle, both for survival. We gave it our best. Was I realy doing what I was teaching, morality, respect your opponent etc.
I know that this sound a little bit from "La La land" But something happened, as I started to respect my opponent evrything felt easier. " months before scheduled end of treatment I met my doctor as usual. He told me that there was no more need for therapy/chemo. My heart jumped to my thgroat.
- Is it over, the tumour has won, , I of course wondered.
- No, I can´t understand why, but it seams that the tumour has had enough. It is over.
- i looked at my wife, she was smiling, we had won, we had actualy won
To this day I still wonder if this ws the braintumours way of respectingme, he gave me his life. This is my dream for jkd, that someday we can just talk about JKD, not have to fight each others interpretations and strong beliefs in our chosen method.
This is why I respectMichails efforts, he is struggling aginst a bigger opponent, I just hope that more and more people will stop to se him as "the other opponent", that we wil come to the point that we all truly and openly listen to what we have to say aout our opinons about JKD. No better, no worse, just no Fuss.
