malolan, I have to talk to my agent
I hope you understand my situation. I write on forums in sweden, Norway, Poland and Roamnia. If I would respond to every request I would do nothing but answer emails. what i can recommend is that you ask your questions openly on the Forum or just join the discussion and that way we will establish "First Contact", and take it from there. The other thing is that you can contact Michail and go through him.
Back to some question. Ted told me that it took him 6 months to get the Lead Hand working apprpopriately. As for me i had a long experience from karate, the main problem was not punching from the Lead side, it was keeping that rear hand away from my Hip. It took me a while to work off the habit of always putting you non-punching hand to the Hip.
As far as getting Power to it, the rear hand will always seam harder. I say "seam" because a succesfull punch is so mauch more than hitting a stationary target from a "get set" position"
In my JKD the first thing to consider is
-precision; if you cant hit your target it doesn´t matter how hard you hit.The question is, is it "easier" to hit your target from rear or lead
- Recoil; This is alla about alignment. to transfer Force into a object ther is always a recoil back. if you are not in a proper posture, a great deal of the power will not connect into the target. The Lead hand according to me offers greater alignment.
There are of course other consideration why I have chosen to put the Time and effort to change the "natural" habit created after many years of Traditional training, as well as concepts Training. I hope you understand that I will not be sharing everything on an open Forum.
As far as the fist, Michail has already touched some of the principles, there are of course more. I know that tim tacket prefers the sligtly twisted fist (btween Vertical and Horizontal) I also know that this comes from his teacher Bob Bremer. Tim says that this was among the last things Bruce came up with. Well it might be, unfortunately there is no proof of this. as for myself. I have worked it, evaluated it, but I feel tha the Horizontal fist works best For My ted Wong On Guard.
But if you look at bob Bremer and Tim tacket On Guard you will see that they are not similar. The alignment they have is a bodyposition I have wehn i throw a rear Cross, and in this technique i use this Fist position that tim is talking abot. This since this gives the best body alignment in this particular technique. But that is something we can take on a seminar one day.
