2 których wymieniłem łączy hype, który po ich ostatnich pojedynkach nieco się ostudził(Reem vs Bigfoot i Struve vs Hunt) i moim zdaniem z Cormierem będzie podobnie. Czy to się sprawdzi - zobaczymy.

Don’t Count Out Alistair Overeem Just Yet

The sky is falling, the sky is falling is how the MMA media described Alistair Overeem’s stunning loss to Bigfoot Silva at UFC 156. Yet a closer look at MMA history shows that the drama was nothing more than a big overreaction by fans and media.

I love certain members of the MMA media (and this goes in all sports to be fair) who are ready to predict the demise of a fighter over one loss. While nobody went as far as to predict the end of Alistair Overeem, many in the media and in social media proclaimed that the UFC lost millions of dollars with the loss. Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t, but that is something hardly confirmed with one shocking upset.
You need to follow certain writers or social media members to get a handle on it but it was clear right away who the haters and the fans were. The haters were the ones who have criticized Overeem since he walked into the UFC and crushed Brock Lesnar in 2011. These are the same haters who criticized Overeem even before that for his massive gains in size and favorable schedule. These are the same critics who wanted to see Overeem fail and had one hand on the keyboard and a big smile on their face waiting to type about the over-hyped UFC heavyweight. In other words these are hardly what I’d call objective opinions.

The idea that a guy could lose one fight and all of the sudden lose all of his marketability is preposterous. Chuck Liddell, Brock Lesnar, Randy Couture, Georges St-Pierre, BJ Penn, and countless others have lost fights and either not lost a thing at the box office or wound up drawing more money at some point after suffering their first loss in the UFC. Anyone predicting the end of Overeem as big draw against Velasquez is someone who hasn’t followed UFC history. It’s almost as if none of these writers or fans remember their heroes ever losing in their primes.

Let’s face it, the situation isn’t good. The worst idea here would be to move forward with Overeem challenging Velasquez, which is something that is not in the UFC’s plans. I won’t insult you by telling you that Overeem losing was a good thing. It wasn’t. But MMA fans have short memories. Heck, Cain Velasquez was knocked out in front of one of the biggest MMA audiences in history in under a minute! All he needed was one fight in which he absolutely obliterated Antonio Silva to earn back his credibility. Now the guy is regarded as unbeatable.

How about this scenario? Alistair Overeem wins his next two fights handily with knockouts or TKO’s. Fast forward to 12-18 months from now and are you really going to tell me that an indestructible Velasquez against a red hot Overeem is going to draw any less than what the fight would have drawn if Overeem survived against Bigfoot? Of course not! The fight would be huge and lucky for Overeem, the competition right now at heavyweight isn’t very stellar. The only real threat to Overeem is Junior Dos Santos. If Overeem can either beat JDS or avoid the fight entirely, it is not impossible to for Overeem to get two decisive wins in a row.

So before I am ready to jump off of a building and mock the fall of Alistair Overeem I’ll wait and see what happens in his next two fights. His next fight is the kicker. It’s time to panic if Overeem can’t pull of anything less than a dominating win. One big win, followed by another, and the UFC will be right back in the driver’s seat with its blockbuster heavyweight title fight.

Auckland, NZ is the most populated part of New Zealand while holding over 30% of the countries residents. Also known as “City of Sails” due to its harbour bay constantly full of yachts, Auckland also is well known because of one of Steve Oliver. The owner of Oliver MMA & BJJ has been on the scene with over sixteen years of experience in bjj, along with eleven years of pro boxing experience. Oliver has two locations in Glen Eden, and Auckland’s North Shore.

With names like Damian Lee, Brandon Ropati, and Mark Hunt, Oliver MMA & BJJ provides great leadership, experience and talent to be known as one of the top gyms in the country.

MMAJam’s Adam Martin caught up with Mark to get a better insight on how he trains overseas as well as the difference between training in New Zealand compared to coming over to the United States for training camp.

“Oliver MMA. Ground coach is Steve Oliver; striking coach is Lollo Heimuli, and strength conditioning Coach Alex Flint.”

Mark travels from New Zealand to Florida from time to time when preparing for his fights, and when asked about it Mark had mentioned it was better to train in New Zealand for him, and it was no different but just closer to home.

“No it's just closer to my home then the states.”

In Mark’s last fight against Stefan Struve, it was shown how much more improved his ground game actually was from previous experiences. Although venerable to submissions in the past Mark showed heart and great knowledge while escaping time after time from Struve’s attempts.

Although already one of the top strikers in the UFC heavyweight division let alone the world, Mark relies on his striking coach Lollo Heimuli to continuously improve his stand up game. Heimuli has over 30 years of Muay Thai and kickboxing experience while producing over one hundred word champions. With a year off from his previous fight Mark himself also mentioned his striking game was out of sync but came through with pin point accuracy in the third round. Mark highly credits Heimuli not only for his last win but with the majority of his K1 KO’s as well.

After coming back to MMA with a yearlong lay-off due to injury, Mark needed to get his body back in shape for fighting form. While rehabbing his knee Mark was unable to keep up with his regular training routines which also included his strength and conditioning. Alex Flint has been there for Mark time and time again. Making sure the “Super Samoan” has come in to each fight fully prepared with his endurance and with the right balance of speed and strength.

May 25, 2013 we will see a new, more improved Mark Hunt like never before! With the perfect remedy for a victory! Ja tak uważam, że Overeem nigdy nie będzie mistrzem UFC. Cormier też póki Cain i Jones są na tronie, bo z Cainem nie zawalczy a Jones imo go pokona.. chociaż to chyba najgroźniejszy przeciwnik dla Jonesa, ale za duża przewaga warunków fizycznych i Bones to świetny zapaśnik, świetnie korzysta z zasięgu, świetne cardio - Jones może pokonać każdego.

Nie rozumiem tych co uważają, że Cormier jest niesprawdzony, taki Lombard był np niesprawdzony i się czekało co pokaże w UFC czy ostatnio Conor McGregor - ale ten akurat się świetnie zaprezentował czy Overeem też nie sprawdzony był w MMA, w LHW walcząc z czołówką najczęściej przegrywał, w HW największe jego sukcesy to zdominowanie Cro Copa, walka z Werdumem, którą wygrał głównie przez zj**any gp Werduma, który tylko punktował dla Aliego i wygrana z Lesnarem, który był po operacjach i który chciał się z nim bić w stójce, bo nawet obalać praktycznie nie próbował.

Cormier pokonał Barnetta, który od lat jest w Top 10 i Bigfoota, który jest również w czołówce - nie uważam żeby Mir był od nich lepszy - imo cała trójka jest na podobnym poziomie, ale szczena Mira jest zdecydowanie najgorsza..

Wracając do Overeema to chłop ma już grubo ponad 60 walk na koncie i już był nokautowany nie raz.. zawsze miał słabe cardio, szczęka i głowa też nigdy dobra nie była, lata koksowania - i walczy zawodowo już chyba w MMA i K-1 od ok. 15 lat.. a z Bigfootem nie przegrał przez zlekceważenie tylko przez to że Bigfoot przez 2 rundy nie dawał możliwości dobrej kontry Aliemu i dobrze bronił się w parterze a Reem się szybko wystrzelał i zmęczył i go Bigfoot skończył od to.
