About "Never Submit"
"Never Submit" is a movie which portrays the thrill of victory and agony of defeat within the sport. The story is set in a tournament setting similar to the movie "Bloodsport" but rather than exploiting the sport as underground no-holds-barred fighting, it seeks to portray the sport in a realistic and positive light. The movie will be an inspirational tale similar to "Rocky." Unlike "Rocky," the lead character is an educated young man, rather than a beaten-down punch-drunk fighter. Mr. Hergott comments: "MMA is a very intellectual sport. A physical chess match. I want to portray the sport and its fighters as intelligent rather than dumb brawlers, as is often done in other movies."
Executive Producer Tarquin Gotch has joined the production team of "Never Submit." Tarquin Gotch served as Executive Producer of "Home Alone," the best-selling comedy film of all time, which made more than $534 million worldwide at the box office and another $140 million in DVD and VHS rentals. Gotch also ran the in house television films department of 20th Century Fox after producing several well-acclaimed comedies. His credits include "Curly Sue," "Planes, Trains and Automobiles," and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
The cinematographer for "Never Submit" is Peter Benison, CSC, whose work includes the opening sequence and visual effects to the 2006 Sony Pictures thriller "Silent Hill." Mr. Benison also credited with several sequences for the 2002 Miramax release "Chicago," which won 6 Academy Awards, including Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Costume, Best Supporting Role, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration and Best Picture. "Chicago" went on to make $170 million at the US Box Office. Mr. Benison has been nominated for numerous achievements and is an award recipient in cinematography and has received positive reviews from such publications as Variety, USA TODAY and The Hollywood Reporter. Company president, James Hergott, will direct the film.
