I did some research and dug up some information on the history of these two. It started off with Nobuhiko Takada making open challenges to Rickson Gracie to face him in a fight, but Rickson declined the fight against him and all pro-wrestlers because they fought in worked fights. The Japanese media took the challenge and hyped the hell out of the challenge with Takada saying some bad things about Rickson which got him pissed off. Rickson eventually said would fight if a big promoter would pay well for his fight, but still had no intentions of fighting a pro-wrestler.
So one day, a group of Japanese went to Rickson Academy in LA to confront him but he was not there. The instructor who was there that day called Rickson at home and told him of the challenge by a Japanese promoter. Nobuhiko Takada was not present because of the rumors that Anjo was a better fighter. Rickson came to the academy and said he would not fight, but did name his price for a fight in Japan. Anjo eventually entered the discussion and stated that Rickson would fight for his honor and awaited a reaction from the Gracie. The challenge was accepted before Anjo could finish is speech.
There were only two people who were able to see the fight -- the Japanese promoter and a Gracie film maker. Rickson immediately took Anjo down, got into the mount position and started to pound away at the defenseless Anjo. Rickson got Anjo against the wall and started pounding his head against it and almost deforming him. He had black eyes, broken teeth and was almost unconscious. Yoji gave Rickson his back and was immediately choke unconscious. After this, Rickson allowed the press to take photos and video of Anjo as he woke up. Days later, Yoji Anjo returned to Rickson Academy and gave him a gift and apologized.
