If his first WFA performance last November wasn't enough to convince you that Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro is the real deal, then his effort Friday night sure as hell was. For all six minutes nineteen seconds of his fight versus Joe Hurley, "Shaolin" thoroughly dominated the contest.
Seconds into the first round, Ribeiro scored a quick double-leg. The fight stayed on the mat for the remainder of the period. Ribeiro passed Hurley's guard, grounded-and-pounded soundly, and looked for submissions during the first five minutes.
As the fight moved to the second round it soon became apparent that "Shaolin" was simply too good for the always-game Hurley. After another beautifully executed double placed him in side control, Ribeiro cinched in a side choke. Unable to escape, and unwilling to tap, Hurley went to sleep on the mat as referee Herb Dean stopped the bout 1:19 of the second.
